Join us for a keynote lecture by Stanford Art History Professor Alexander Nemerov, author of Fierce Poise: Helen Frankenthaler and 1950s New York, as he reflects on these enduring questions. Professor Nemerov will focus on the prints of Helen Frankenthaler, which were recently gifted to the Cantor Arts Center by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation as part of a major exhibition on the artist’s work, to explore her groundbreaking legacy.

Join us for an afternoon of artmaking with Saif Azzuz, 2026-27 Doerr Visiting Artist, and cultural fire practitioner Elizabeth Azzuz. In this all ages, family friendly workshop, the Azzuzs will share the significance of cultural fire, or prescribed burns led by Indigenous practitioners to steward healthy ecosystems. Participants will create connections between native flora and fauna, and make pigments and drawings with charcoal from cultural fire burns.
